Boardtracker HD Closed

It's going to get interesting. Here in Ohio there is one guy that owned 4 dealerships and recently just bought my main dealer. They came in and told the employee's that if they wanted to stay they had to sign a 2 year non-compete that also included automotive for the techs. Needless to say they are all gone, service has gone to hell. They wont sell anything that is not HD branded (found that out when I went in to buy oil). That business model may work for the rubes but it's not going to cut it with most riders that I know.

tough news for me . I bought 2017 cvo ultra from them new in late 2016 . i got a good deal and they included prepaid maintenance for first 3 services and free tires for life . i continued to renew the prepaid maintenance each 10,000 miles and got caught with this last renewal holding the paper . i assume new dealer if there is one wont pick up this paper. I do get my service done at dealerships and had been extremely happy with the staff and results both the Monroe and Janesville store. It was a great deal for me when it lasted , but its gone now.

I'm sure someone will buy in. I think the main issue was the owners. With competent management Boardtracker/Kutter/whatever the next name is, will be profitable based on online sales alone.

The owner of Boardtracker must be a real piece of work. I feel bad for the innocent people that worked there. They had some good people there especially in service, I hope they land on their feet.

Wisconsin Harley is a different deal. Three guys bought it from Kirk Topel (Hal Topel's son), who also owned Hal's. Then Kirk sold Hal's to the Pomeroy ******** and it became Iron Town for about a minute. And per the thread topic, these same ******** bought Kutter and fvcked that up too.
So oddly enough the 2 dealerships, Wisconsin Harley and, let's just call it Hal's, are now once again owned by the same folks. As far as I can tell, the 3 dudes that own Wisconsin Harley, and now Hal's, are straight shooters. I just fear the overhead of the Hal's complex will be difficult to maintain.
Our area has been playing musical dealerships for the last 5 years. Every one of them except for Suburban HD has been bought and sold. Suburban somehow fought off the Latte-Cathedral mandate and still operate out of the old car dealership building. The place has been bought and paid for many times over. They also have a very good following. Between that, and other factors, I would say Suburban will be around for a good long time as long as the owner stays healthy. He's no spring chicken though, so who knows.
