Default Sturgis solo

Anyone else have the problem where you plan a long ride and everyone is all about it until the date gets near, then everyone backs out for one reason or another? A few years back I rode coast to coast. I had some friends who wanted to go, then backed out. I went alone anyway and it was a trip of a lifetime. loved every minute of it. Now I'm planning to ride to Sturgis. It's a bucket list ride for me. Same deal...I have some friends that said they were going and now they don't want to go if we don't trailer there and back. I refuse to do that. To me, riding is the fun part. So it looks like I'll be going alone. Is Sturgis just as fun alone? I planned on camping at buffalo chip to catch the concerts. Never been so I'm not sure what to expect.

You will make friends along the way and friends while there if so choose. I did Sturgis once and would love to go back.

Looks like I have same situation as you. Friends always plans to go but then girlfriend makes a different decision for him. Thinking about doing it alone this year but not sure how that will turn out. Guess the only way to find out is go. Could be trip of lifetime or disaster.

In a lot of ways Sturgis is more fun alone. Go where you want, when you want and stay as long as you want. Believe me once you get there I doubt you'll find much alone time. Always plenty of others on the roads and in camp. There's so many places to ride. I doubt you'll see it all in the first trip.

This is my 3rd year going. Ive already had 3 back out. Still a bunch of others saying they are going though. You might ride up their solo but you'll meet a ton of people and probably end up hanging out with them some of the time your up there. The chip is cool but I wouldn't want to stay there. Ive been there for concerts though which was cool but Not the cleanest of campgrounds out there.... Last year actually I was talking to some Canadians at the beaver bar down the road from there and they said they were trying to find a different place to say because of how disgusting it was there. All the big bars have concerts and so do the campgrounds. But they probably aren't the front runners like at the chip. If you wanna see 1 or 2 of them just buy advanced tickets for those concerts on line and then explore the other nights. There is a shuttle that goes to all the big campgrounds in Sturgis that will take you to the chip or down town or full throttle so you don't have to ride and worry about a dui.

Just my 2cents

I did it last year by myself, it was definitely a trip of a lifetime. If I do it again I’ll do it the same way, it’s great to make your own riding schedule or lack thereof.
