Default A little Harley history

Here's a little bit of interesting Harley history, with some negatively biased statements and all.

I did not know about the Sankyo deal back in the depression, era. This actually ended up being the Rikuo Motorcycle

That picture of the policeman on the motorcycle was a highlight .The article is generally favorable, I really found nothing to be offended about but instead found out stuff I did not know, like that the first HD club was started in Prague and is still there.

There is a lot of wasted pages in this "article" but some of it is interesting

PS: Page 11 is where they reveal the Hog Nickname

There are some errors in that piece. The one that jumped out at me was Evel Knievel used Harley Davidsons exclusively; not true. He rode the following brands:

Honda
Norton
Triumph
Laverda
Harley Davidson (sponsorship withdrawn after he beat a man with a baseball bat)

The truth is, Evel would have jumped with a rickshaw if somebody would have paid him enough money.

Don't care about bad luck, if I could get my hands on any of those original "Green" bikes I'd be in heaven

So Porsche and heritage have their own Harley frame, and the dyna is the only one you can't buy anymore, even though the VROD was scrapped first? Definitely some misinformation going on there lol.

Yeah think they took the title officially in 2011 or so? Can't remember. Do remember buying a few beers for the celebration at the local dive bar though

Harley wasn't called "The Quiet Grey Gentleman".......they were called "The Silent Grey Fellow".

1912 Silent Grey Fellow

That's just one of the WRONG things in that article. People shouldn't write HD history unless they know HD history.

"The first Harley to appear in a movie was "The Wild One" in 1953..........

NO...........Buster Keaton rode on the handlebars of a Harley in a movie called "Sherlock, Jr. in 1924........and there were probably earlier films where a Harley was used before that.
