Default Spending on Accessories vs Spending on Anything else

This isn't exactly a serious post but man lately I've just been so torn on how I want to spend my disposable income: on more bike accessories or something else like a trip. I'm fairly new to the Harley world and just scrolling through the endless pages of accessories has me jotting down a long wish list. I just ordered a smart security system and new riding boots. My gf is not happy that's where my money is going ha!

I hear ya. I have a motorcycle and a Jeep, both are known to drain you of any spare cash you might have.

Thus the reason why GFs call the bike a "mistress". They take our time, money and attention like a real mistress. As for your question, You should spend in moderation. This has worked for me because I look forward to purchasing a certain item for the bike and wait with anticipation for the day that I can do it. I think that if I bought everything that I wanted right away I would quickly get bored adding parts to the bike or the bike would look obscene with so much aftermarket stuff on it.

Go for the trip/travel. That way 5he other half gets to enjoy it too. Now as you are on the long trip you say to the wife, these floorboards sure are uncomfortable, and she says, well let's go pick up some new ones. That can work with all the accessories you can think of. Now you can pimp the bike out AND travel with the blessings of the other half.

Good point. Part of the excitement really is looking forward to getting that next piece and when that day finally arrives. I'll prob buy a couple of other small things and save the big things for later. My eyes are set on a Screamin Eagle air cleaner. Can't wait for that!

I’ve had my bike for thirteen years. I still find things to change. I’m looking to swap out the seat and the floorboards this year.
Theres always something.

Aftermarket parts makers can't employ workers unless they have customers. Every accessory purchaser contributes to the good of the industry foreign or domestic.

Unlike gfs you can rebuild a Harley better than new. Unlike gfs you can dismember a Harley which annoys you and hang parts around the shop without going to prison.

BTW if you think adding accessories is fun, start collecting motorcycles! Unlike most gfs they don't get jealous of each other.

I bought a second bike last fall. This spring I've been customizing it.

My name is Chambeaux and I have a problem.

I spend too much.
Feel guilty and tell myself no more.
I find myself on the parts page.

I try to do both.....put on the accessories to improve the travel.....some for comfort ....some for convenience ...some for just bling....it's enjoyable to add the extras...especially if they add to the enjoyment of the trip
