Just to play Devi's Advocate, I know several people here won't purchase a bike that has been worked on by the owner and not a dealership or mutually known indy. I understand it's a completely different ball game when money is involved.

Hell, even Then Came Bronson could straighten out his bent forks with a rock on the side of the road then ride on into the next episode.....

I've often wondered after seeing all the performance products and work people have had done to their bikes, how many actually have done the work or paid to have it done. A fella down the road just dropped 100g for a new Corvette. He bought instant performance. It was an easy way to get into a performance car club.

That is their loss, since most of what I have done over the years is a marked improvement over the cheap parts and lacking engineering from the Moco.
Torrington bearings, Cometic and Jim's gaskets, and improved oiling come to mind.

My statement is more about who did the work rather than what went into it. If you were to purchase a bike that had that list of improvements, other arguments aside, would you rather buy from the guy down the street or from a dealer?

This for me as well. And it's not just the time to wrench but to learn to do it to a standard that I would feel safe on the bike. Perhaps when I'm retired.

When you own your own business and work 7 days a week, sometimes its tough.. No wrong answers here, just multiple correct opinions..
