trying to install new battery

Default trying to install new battery

when i put the connectors back on the battery they started sparking what am i doing wrong? i tried both the red connector first then i tried the black connector first they all spark regardless !!! what am i doing wrong?

oh if forgot to mention the alarms keeps going off

also the dealership told me i must disconnect a fuse first but i couldn't find it

i have 2017 harley breakout !

you might want to take your bike to a pro to do the work or look up videos

Sparks mean that electricity is flowing. They all do that

Fuses are probably under your seat but a quick 2 second search of the owner’s manual will tell you that.

Make sure you ar connecting them properly. + & -. Turn off the ignition, and pull the main fuse. Connect the + first, then the -.

thank you my bike has factory alarm if i remember correctly the tech guy told me to turn on the bike then turn off the kill switch so the bike doesn't think i am stealing it - i dont know how to turn off teh kill switch lol then he told me to unplug the main fuse but i couldnt find it.

From the owners manual that you should browse through. Available for free download on the HD website also.

But if you don't really know what the kill switch is or how to use it, it might be best to stay off the bike until you know the very beginner basics.

When disconnecting any 12 volt automotive battery disconnect the negative (black cable first) then the positive (red cable). Connecting is the reverse red cable first negative second this minimises arcing and sparking. A pair of disposable surgical/workshop gloves wouldn't go amiss either to insulate yourself from any potential shock.

It could be the wrong battery and the terminals are reversed.
