Harleys not ridden and not for sale.

A person can get on Craigslist or Cycletrader to see what Harleys are available for sale. How many Harleys are there out there that aren't ridden but aren't for sale?

Obviously, I"m not looking for a number but rather opinions like 'a lot', 'not many', 'a pretty good amount', etc.

My brother has a 2006 Dyna Wide Glide with just over 5000 miles on it. At least he gets it out and rides around the block once every month or 2 but he doesn't ride it. I know of several people with garage queens, I would guess there are a lot.

On the short, one-block long alley where I live there are at least two touring Harleys parked in garages that I've never seen run in the ten years I've been here.

I am aware of 3 garages that house at least 2 harleys that haven't been used in over 5 years. They just sit or they run to the local bar for bike night once per month, No miles on them.

I'm pretty sure the correct answer is "most of them".

When they do decide to sell you can end up with a brand new bike with a heavy depreciation. That's how I got my first Harley.

Just like many seniors who can't drive anymore but still have their car in the garage or driveway. Its a sense of freedom that we can't give up.
For over 45 years I always had a bike in my garage. Last one was a very low mileage 1200 Katana in my garage that sat there for many years. Finally sold it the end of 2017. Could not see myself without a bike. July 2018 bought my fist Harley. I now ride it a few times a week.

I have always had a bike and always say, use it or not I will always have one and it must run.
