State to state transfer
I am considering buying a bike sight unseen from a other forum member. The bike is exaxtly what I want, down to the color. Tha mods done are very much to my liking. The price AND transport are fair.
What is the best way to exchange to cash so that both parties can be sure of a fair and honest transaction?
I instinctively trust the seller, but than again my brain says to trust but veritiy.
What way is the best way to check the vin?
Will make sure the transport company inspects for damage before packing the bike.
Thanks,
Jack

I bought my bike from a guy in LA. Then had my banker contact a banker that he used in LA. Was easy because the money got transferred to his bank and his banker did the title transfer noting that no lien was in force. That's how I did it. Never met the guy but I knew he was on the up and up when he didn't mind using a banker as a go between.

Some use an escrow service to hold the money until the item is delivered and approved. I've used them in the past. Both parties must agree to use one. There is a fee for this of course. Some as low as 0.09%. Then there must be a binding agreement on the condition of the bike when delivered and ways to remedy deficiencies such as shipping damage if they occur. Other than that there is always PayPal which is not actually an escrow service and do not provide the same services. Google for escrow. Some are designed for on-line vehicle sales. It's an easy way to buy and sell on-line worry free. As for the VIN get a copy of the title and check with seller's BMV. Your BMV will want it inspected once you receive the bike. Put that in the purchase agreement.

This one a guy I know used to buy his car. I believe it's the same one eBay uses.
