Tried Ordering a Rear Tire...
from Dennis Kirk today. I've ordered from them several times, most recently in December 2018. I looked at several different online vendors and they were within a couple of dollars of all of them and they're usually pretty fast with shipping. So, I put the tire in my cart, chose payment method, which was a CC I had on file with them that was still valid. When I clicked on complete purchase, the screen refreshed and an error message appeared saying something about being unable to process payment. So, thinking it was a glitch, I tried again with the same results. I deleted the CC card, re-entered the information and tried again for the third time. No go.
Next, I tried paying with PayPal. Transferred to PayPal, chose payment and returned to Dennis Kirk. Clicked complete purchase and the same damn error message. Not to be deterred, I tried PayPal again. Foiled again, so I gave up. A little later, I checked my email. PayPal sent me two purchase confirmations each with a transaction for one tire at $225.50 each! WTF? Since I didn't get a confirmation from Dennis Kirk, I went back to their site and checked my account. The last transaction was still the one from December. Now, I'm thinking I've probably got five $225.50 tires in their system that haven't gone through yet. Just what I ****ing need.
I called their 1-800 number and told the girl on the phone what happened. She said she didn't handle that stuff and that I should email webmaster@denniskirk.com, which I did. Also, I emailed customer service while I was at it. I got an email reply that they were showing no orders from my account and that the PayPal transactions would eventually disappear since they never got the transaction. I asked about the CC charges and they said I would have to contact the CC company, but she said those purchases should not go through because, again, Dennis Kirk never got the orders. Now, I'm waiting to see if I've got $1,127.50 worth of rear tires on order.

With the internet it's more of a common thing but it doesn't make it any less stressful. Video game I play has banks routed through Cyprus, so if I buy any add on's it get's flagged. I didn't know this at first so 3 attempts later I finally give up. About 6 hours later I get a call from the card company asking if I attempted to make the purchases in question. Explained the situation that one was good, the other 2 attempts were simply due to the ordering failing and me trying again because I didn't know what was going on until they called. She blanked out 2 and sent an e-mail where I'd click to confirm the other purchase and everything went through.
Basically, if you want to cover all your bases? Call whoever has issued whatever cards you used to attempt the purchase, speak to them and let them know the situation. This way you can at least have it on file in the event that 3 or 4 tires show up and people want money for them.
