Default Thoughts on electric throttle control

Looking at buying a new 2019 Softail Slim . Started bike today at dealer and the ETC , or electronic throttle control is slow and sluggish , I'am not impressed .When letting off the throttle the RPMS take a lot longer to wind down . My cabled throttle response on my 883 Iron was crisp and right there letting on and off . Is this normal for this ETC system? If so I'am going to pass on a new Harley .

On my ‘16 FHHTK dreadnought, I put an FP3 tuner on it. I put it on medium throttle response. There are two more aggressive settings. The medium was better than stock. Maybe someone on here can testify as to whether the HD Screaming Eagle tuner does the same.
Using the FP3 tuner on a new bike can void the HD warranty.

The fly by wire throttle and Delphi fuel injection on my 2011 Road King is the best FI/throttle response I've ever experienced. But, the best throttle response to me is a well set up, cable operated CV carb.

Honestly my friend, I have had both and I really cannot tell the difference.

Either that or you get used to the electronic one pretty fast.

Was leary of idea TBW till I got the 17 RK , got the SC street tuner and the throttle is just as crisp and responsive as my carb bike so far, actually acts a bit better when hot and I'm blipping the throttle while down shifting.

I've had 2 bikes with ETC and I thought they could have been set with a little more " snap " . I thought my road king was kinda sluggish , but after installing the FP3 and tuning the throttle progressivity to moderate , it is just as good as the cable if not better . Oko is correct , the FP3 will void your warranty , so if you do make the purchase I would check to see if they offer anything similar .

Also , adding a stage 1 kit to the bike will help improve the throttle response as well .

Ok , I know the Fuelpak well as I tuned my 2016 883 Iron with it , however my Iron was running great, I just wanted better performance from it . But that was my choice . So I'am spending $16,000.00 on a new Harley Softail that the factory programs an electronic lag in the throttle body response ? I'am thinking that when I twist the throttle for $16,000.00 the throttle body should respond instantly ? So I can now go buy the Vance & Hines Throttlepak for $150.00 , or buy another Fuelpak for $300.00 . I will not make excuses for Harley, I wanted to trade-up from the Sporster but this is just pissing me off enough to go buy that BMW motorcycle .

Never noticed any delay due to TBW.

But, what does bug me is that you can’t give multiple quick beeps on the horn, due to delays from the CanBus system.
