Dealer hourly rates, and do they prorate?

Now add in the fact that flat rate book for a job may be .8 of an hour - but if they can get it done in .5 - you still get charged .8 anyway. Then add in "shop supplies" which are charged as an extra - even though they say that the hourly rate is so high because of the shop equipment and supplies. Oh, and if the .8 job takes 1.0 for whatever reason - you'll be charged 1.0 as there was extra "diagnostic time."

Not true, if a job pays 1.0 hour and for what ever reason it takes me 2.0 hours you only get charged 1.0.
Unless for example say a bolt breaks off in something, or you have aftermarket parts in the way
and it’s going to take more time, but before we continue, we get your approval for more time
