Default Finally happened - bee sting while riding

My wife and I were enjoying a beautiful ride on the Iowa side of the Mississippi river when a bee somehow shot under the visor on my half-shell helmet. It first hit my lower eye lid and then lodged between my helmet and temple. I didn't think bees could sting twice but this one did. Stung my eye lid and then left it's stinger in my temple. I'm 62 and have been riding all of my adult life - first time I have ever been stung, and hope it's the last. We are both really lucky, as I barely got the bike stopped as it temporarily blinded me hurt like a som-bitch!

Just a plea to wear head and eye protection. In spite of my helmet, visor and glasses, I still took a nasty hit.

Probably a wasp if it stung twice. I can't count how many times I've been stung while riding. Most recently just three weeks ago. I'm allergic to wasps but not bees. I always need to remember to bring that epi-pen with me when I ride.

My first one was in the armpit about 45 years ago while on I-75 heading for Cherokee NC ... That "son of a stinger" whacked me twice too

Once every couple of months, like clockwork....I get stung. I am glad you didn't panic and got the bike stopped.

Isn't nature fun?

Default Bee Sting

Hurts like a bitch. I learned not to lay my helmet in the shady grass..Look inside before you put it on.

If it left it's stinger it was a bee. Odd it didn't lose the stinger the first time though. It must've just grazed the OP with the first sting.

Got repeatedly stung inside my leather jacket, hurt like hell, managed to stop safely to the side of the road, unzipped my jacket, and I could see the damn thing fly away 🤬

Oof, never had one on the eyelid but did get stung in the chest once about a mile from home, it was more of the shock then anything else.

Yea, it sucks...I had a big black bumblebee sting me on my neck back in the mid eighties, I was riding my Honda Interceptor 500 and the damn bee hit my full face helmet and fell inside the collar on my shirt.

When I pulled off my shirt the damn bee was still there inside my shirt so I stepped on it and killed it
