Handlebar/Windshield bags - where does this attach?
I've noticed that many handlebar/windshield bags have this attachment on the back:
What exactly does that attach to? Also, I want a bag that faces me, not the front, yet most of them have slots for the mounting straps on the rear of the bag. There's no way I could mount one like that facing me because it would completely cover the speedometer.
So in short... I want a small bag, like 6-7 inches wide, that mounts in front of the handlebar but faces back toward me.
What exactly does that attach to? Also, I want a bag that faces me, not the front, yet most of them have slots for the mounting straps on the rear of the bag. There's no way I could mount one like that facing me because it would completely cover the speedometer.

Without the windshield if you mount the bag facing you then it's gonna get jammed between the bars and your dash.

I made my own set of straps with Velcro to go around the handlebars and sewed them on. The other strap in the picture goes under the headlight bucket. The bag works great and has enough space to carry a few tools, garage door opener, phone, etc.

I did this to get basically what you are talking about:
I made my own set of straps with Velcro to go around the handlebars and sewed them on. The other strap in the picture goes under the headlight bucket. The bag works great and has enough space to carry a few tools, garage door opener, phone, etc.
