Default xr 1200 frame

I'm weighing some of my options for an A2 bike (licence for 19 year olds in the uk), I like the XR1200 sporty but not a fan of the tail unit and tank. Does it share the same frame as the rest of the sportster line, and if so do the parts off the regular XL1200 bolt on or would i need to fabricate some brackets and such? I can find them around £7000 give or take (around $9000). Id rather spend more initially for the better suspension, faster motor and stronger brakes rather than upgrading a regular baseline sporty which would likely cost more to give it the same upgrades.

thanks

I'm pretty sure it's the same frame but if you put an XL *** end on an XR it's gonna look like ****.

The XR and XL frames are not the same. The rear sub-frames and peg mounts (on the frame) are just a couple of the differences. I would suspect, but do not know, that the neck angles are different as well.

To the DIY crowd, "not the same" and "not the same part number" mean two completely different things.

I guess it wouldn't look too shitty:

From what I can tell, the subframe on the XL goes straight out behind the shock mount, whereas on the XR it heads up along the line of the tail section. Since that's all a common piece of the frame I think you'll have to either bust out a welder and get some mad skills, or buy the XL frame.

I know you love that XR but why not just get the XL Roadster and hop up the motor?

quick look on Ronnies and it appears to be 2 different part numbers: 48879-08A for XR and 49348-09 all others. At least for 2008

I get it; with enough skill and money just about anything can be accomplished. But, there are greater differences between the two frames than a part number.
