Anyone built a bike from scratch

Ok,
Not being a dick but I’m sure were all good about swapping out parts that we’ve brought from this and that company that fits your ride and “ Has that IT NESS “ your looking for.

But who’s actually just started with a frame and built their bike from the first nut and bolt.

What makes me think of this is when I was working at UPS a custom bobber frame came down the e reg belt from a frame builder in Wyoming.

Just curious as to not only getting to pimp their Harley. But to getting down and building one the way they like from day one.

Wiz Out

When I was12 years old, my dad brought home a box of parts and a frame from a Yamaha DT-175. It took me about 4 months with no tech manual to put it all back together and get it running after a bore job and carb rejet. I learned a lot from that bike.

From scratch?
You mean mining all the different metals, creating every part, including the rubber for the tires, vinyl, plastics, paint, computers, micro chips etc?
No, but I have assembled a bunch of parts that were created for me.....:D

I built one starting with nothing more than a tail light once.

Hey that's my old bike

In 1983 I bought a set of 1958 FLH cases and 2 milk crates of engine parts at a swap meet. I built a complete bike over the next couple of years collecting parts at swap meets, trading and buying a handful of new things. I wish I still had that bike. It was one of those "I will never sell this bike" deals, but, like a dumb ass I ended up selling it.

I have bought several serious basket cases over the years and put them back together. But the 58 Pan is the only one I literally collected every piece and made a complete bike out of it.

Built many from a pile of boxes and a bare frame, my sig bike being one.

I found her at a swap meet as a frame on the floor with 1/2 dozen crates of dirty parts and lower end still drippin oil. Turned into this several months later

Been through a few changes since and this is her last go round, same bike.

Built this one the same way, basket case for a $1000 to this 6 months later. I did the blacked out thing 20 years before it became the new thing

Been numerous others over the years including a number of choppers, lost all those pictures in a house fire

I built this one from a pile of parts when I was 14 years old and rode it until 1976 when I sold it and bought a brand new '76 FXE.
