I clean it when it’s looking dirty. Windshield gets cleaned pretty often. I don’t mind having some dirt on her, I’d rather ride than clean. Bug guts make it faster.
Have you ever seen trucks that had so much crap piled up on the dash they could hardly see out the windshield. Papers, coffee cups, yesterdays lunch wrapper. Seems like the same deal to me.
I keep mine spotless ! But i do the same with my cars, guns and my Suburban too. Everything i own is that way. My father was the same way, so that's where i got it from. I passed this on to my two sons also.
I clean the bugs off with H2O2, followed by some quick hits of Purple Slice, and the bike looks nice and clean. Of course, if you look in some of the nooks and crannies you'll find some bugs, but you'd have to be looking for them. For everybody else, the bike looks clean, and that's good enough for me.
I only do a full wash if I get caught in the rain.
I've noticed over the decades the guys that need them spotless don't often ride 15-20,000 miles a year.
I ride with guys that polish every time we stop. That's being ****!
Don't you just hate Florida this time of year. I went from Sanibel Island through Okeechobee to get to the East Coast and this was taken half way. I had to bring the bike to a DIY Car Wash and pressure wash it to clean them off.
Mine just spent the day on the jack, cleaned from front to back, 2 coats of wax, chrome cleaner, ww's, checked all fluids. It is spotless. I like it clean
