Default New rider (Road that is) on Road King

How long before I ride to work? It’s about 18 miles of metro Phoenix driving each way. Wild West driving here.

I try to avoid driving through Phoenix traffic in my truck let alone on my bike.

Leave early enough that can beat rush hour traffic and enjoy the ride ..

If you’re a new rider, you should get some practice time in before you ride in heavy traffic. If you have to ride to work, wear a good helmet and other protective gear.

Why did you buy a street bike? Sounds like you more comfortable off road. You are not required to ride bike to work in heavy traffic conditions and until you get more confident in your abilities just stay on less traveled roads.

Here yes, in Az. not so much.

OP in that heat and no lane splitting stay in 4 wheels if it's gonna suck being jammed up in traffic you should at least be comfortable in the AC.

The one time I hate riding is in bumper-to-bumper freeway traffic. Miserable, tiring, and I worry about the bike overheating.

Seriously dude, that really depends on you. There's no way that a stranger can tell you when you'll feel comfortable and skilled enough to ride your bike to work. Think about it and you'll understand what I mean.
