Went to my local dealership this morning for a test ride and to score a pair of free boots. I rode a Softail Delux and loved the clutch, the power and the nearly vibration free ride. Absolutely hated the throttle by wire though. Definitely designed with the limp wristed rider in mind. Accelleration comes on very fast and shuts down just as fast. Being used to a traditional twist throttle I felt like I was riding a rocking horse.

Would I buy one? No. What I was mainly after was the boots but they didn't have my size. That and after looking at the style and quality of the boots they were giving away

I gladly accepted the gift card instead. All things considered it was a fun morning. Thank you Tampa Harley.

Limp wristed? LOL. It's technology. Cars, bikes, you name it...all drive by wire now. Welcome to 2019.

 

I didn't like the throttle by wire on my 2014 when I first got it but I've gotten used to it. It's definitely a different feel.

 

I dunno know about the quality, but I could live with the looks of those boots; perhaps not my first choice but not terribly horrible.

 

i wanna know more about free boots. i like free.

 

It's been around a while. My wife's '02 S80 has throttle by wire. Seems to work more seamlessly in cars than it does in bikes.....
