600+ miles yesterday
I live near Toronto and went to Pennsylvania for the day. Solo trip. Some amazing and beautiful roads down there, wow, I wish Southern Ontario was like that. State Highway 666 is incredible. I know what they say about Sportys not being the best for long distances but I put over 600 miles on this one yesterday, what a blast, and could easily do it again today. No fatigue, no numbness, nothing. I'm also sitting on a Le Pera Bare Bones, which more would agree is one of the worst seats for long trips. To each their own. I find it very comfortable and have done four consecutive 16 hour days on it no problem. The seat, rubber grips, and forward controls are key for me being able to ride this thing all day without any soreness.
Talk about a small world. The one town I stopped in at was Bradford, PA, and there I saw two bikers in a parking lot looking at a map, so I pulled in and did the old "Hey guys, where are you from?" They both live in the same city as me and one is just 5 minutes down the road. Go figure. I tagged along with them for a few hours, had dinner, exchanged phone numbers, good folks, then I headed back home and they stayed the night. Already looking forward to the next trip to PA. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.hdf...4959f99020.jpg |
small world indeed. shame you had to ride so far to meet your neighbors. but thats what makes these trips so much fun.

You did all that on a Sportster?!? YOU DA MAN!
I live in Central New York State and love PA. East of where you were is Route 6, 44, & 144. My three favs. |

Not sure which way home or down you went but it sounds like you went on 59 past the Kinzua Dam. That’s a good ride and you should ride the whole Route 321 from where it starts down to Kane PA as its all National Forest. |
Shoulda gone a tad farther to Preston county, West Virginia. Prolly my favorite place in the whole world. Great scenery, great people, although the roads can be a tad worn from the Winters. US50 from Cumberland, MD, to Clarksburg W. Va. is, IMHO, the most scenic road in the country IF you like Americana.

Glad to hear another sporty rider getting out there and putting down some miles!
I did not know there was a highway 666 over on the east coast so I looked it up, looks like a good ride. Over here in AZ we have the Route 666 which was renamed RT191 better known as the Devil's Highway. Pretty cool ride if you ever make it this far south. |
But, but, but... You can't do that on a Sportster. 'Everybody' knows that...:icon_rolleyes:
