Default Suspension Bottoming Out

I've recently purchased a 2019 Street Glide, my first Harley. I've just hit a thousand miles and absolutely love the bike. Everything is great with the exception of the rear shock. I weigh 180 pounds and had originally set the preload for 220 pounds to accommodate saddlebag load etc. The bike bottoms out consistently. It's quite painful. It doesn't seem to mater whether I adjust it up or down, although if I adjust the preload higher it seems to happen less. Am I fighting a losing battle? Is a different setup required? Looking for some advice. Many thanks in advance!

Not sure, but I think the SG comes with 1" lowered shocks for "the look". Might need to go standard length. I also would imagine the roads pretty much suck where you live, too.

Thanks for your reply. Roads here probably aren't as nice as they are in Florida but actually not as bad as you might think. It really doesn't seem to take much of a bump to get it to bottom out. First bike I've owned where this is an issue.

Yes, you're fighting a losing battle with stock shocks.

The first step is getting rid of the stock shocks.

I really hate reading that a bike can't function properly with stock parts. These newer models really concern me.

This is nothing new. Harley stock suspension has been crap for years.
