Default Trying to decide on which Harley

I am trying to decide which used Harley (2000-2010 est) would offer performance for both in town driving as well as reasonable comfort on the open road for maybe a few hours driving at a time. I am looking at a 2001 Heritage Softail Classic, 2001 Dyna Low Rider, 2002 Dyna Wide Glide, and a 2002 Sportster Custom. Any thoughts would be appreciated. All these bikes felt very comfortable to sit on but I am wondering how they feel on the open road and in town.

IMHO the Heritage Softail is the most versatile bike .Harley makes. They look good stripped down or bagged up. I've owned 3 of them over the years and enjoyed each of them.

I agree completely. I have a 2008 FLSTC and she rides great. Room in the saddlebags for stuff, can configure for solo or two up riding and tons n tons of potential upgrades if you are so inclined!

There is an *** for every seat, but you gotta go ride one to see what YOU like. Good luck in your search

I agree about the Heritage. I have had my 2006 almost 14 years and plan on keeping it until I can no longer ride.

I have a heritage, dyna street bob and a sporty. I ride my heritage mostly highway, have a 90 mile daily commute. My sporty is ridden almost exclusively suburban and town, but can feel a little cramped. The street bob is a in-between size, comfortable size for me, more comfortable than a sporty, but not a long distance highway bike, for me it’s more of a ride anywhere weekend bike.
As mentioned above heritage is the most versatile and comfortable ride, but can be a bit big for congested town traffic, where a sportster is great.
Do a couple of test rides on different bikes, buy what suits you best, both riding style and fit. I found myself wanting to upgrade quicker from a smaller bike, and found the heritage my “ultimate” bike.
Good luck, ride safe!

I rode a friends Heritage for a day , and I have to admit , it's a pretty awesome bike . I chose my King because I travel a lot and wanted a bigger more comfortable bike , but the Heritage did surprise me , easy to handle in traffic , nice and comfy on the highway , just nothing bad to say about it . I like the fact that the Heritage can be stripped down or set up for long distance , they have so much potential going for them .

I traded my Sportster for a Heritage, and now have a Fat Boy. I rode the Heritage the least of all three, but I would recommend it over the other two for longer rides and comfort.
But you won’t go wrong with any of them.
