Default Oil Leak......Imagine That!

Good day all:

As can be seen, I have a minor leak at the lifter cover. I've looked at the shop manual and read the forum suggestions and have a few questions (It looks like I'm not the first to encounter this inconvenience):

* If I pop the clip and raise the push rod cover will that expose the problematic O ring - I don't have to dissemble anything else (see next question below)? I'm going to try turning the cover and re-seating the O ring first before doing anything.
* Several on the forum have use the old, "cut the O ring and gorilla glue it back together technique" with good reported success.
* I just wiped the leak (there's very little oil), am I at risk of loosing oil pressure and doing any serious damage if I run like this for a few days?
* What would cause this on only one of the four push rods?

Thanks all. This is why I love this forum. This is something I think I can fix myself (presuming it's not a bad lifter or something like that). Any suggestions, warnings or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Jay

Hit it with some brake cleaner to clean the area and then LEAVE IT THE F ALONE.
If you get dirt in there or cut the O-ring you're in for a ride or tow to the shop, That little bit of oil is not worth worrying about, it's not going to hurt the bike.
Just clean it and keep an eye on it, if it just seeps like that it's not a problem.

Its the oil return path so no pressure, its only irritating and no dont cut and glue the o-ring.

Leave it alone. It's not leaking bad enough to worry about.

Clean it and ride it unless it becomes a bigger leak. If so DO NOT redneck it with super glueing an o-ring, change it out.

Thanks all. I just got back from a 30 mile ride (cleaned it before hand) - very little oil on the push rod cover. Thanks for the advice and warnings, for now, I'll leave well enough alone!

It will be fine. Fooling with it is just gonna make it worse.

If it's worth fixing, it's worth fixing properly !

Brake clean is the best thing for Harleys. Wait until you have something else to do.

Sure it’s not coming out of the filter? Recent oil change?
