Default Key fob batteries

Word of caution to anyone with optional security system, I bought my bike on 4-20-07 and both key fob batteries have died already.

Seems like that is a little to soon for both to go bad. I have an '06which will be 1 1/2 years old at the end of July and both my key fob batteries still work fine. I also have the security system and I able it and disable all the time with my key fob. In fact I was going to check the batteries with my meter to see what their voltage are now.

You can disable the security system manually, look in your manual on how to change the code to what you want. You hold both blinkers for a few secconds then you click the left X amount of times then hit the right right to enter it and so forth, so your not totally Funked if your fob dies and your nowhere near a store to buy a battery.

Happened to me as well, mine lasted about a month before the batterys died. Bought 2 new batterys and withen a week the ole flashing light trick happened again so I knew it wasnt the new Batterys.I know know that you can pop the FOB case open , pull the battery out and re-Install it and it will work. Happens to me all the time. It doesnt matter if I switch FOBS or not, still have to remove the cover and reset the battery back in. Sucksbut I had to wait 3 weeks for my bike and the only one in the 4 state area was one w/ a FOB so I had to take it. Id never get another one again , then again I doubt I'll get another bike so Im stuck w/ it.

Not sure if this is the answer, but mine died twice in six months. And i kept wondering why. I thought maybe the button is being pushed most of the time in my pockets. Ya know, being push up against something, i.e. lighter, cellphone, other keys, loose change. Well, I dont put them in my pockets anymore I hang them on my belt or belt loop. In the last six months they both have stayed strong with no sign of weakness. Maybe, just maybe, were running the batts down by being in our pockets....
