Default Motorcycle accidents making national news

Why does it seem motorcycle accidents tend to make national news much more so than automobile accidents? When's the last time you heard of a car hitting another car in a turn in some random part of the country? Like here in Tampa, for instance, a motorcycle accident will make the evening news during prime time in front of any other run of the mill car accident (which there are plenty of on a daily basis here).

It's as if Big Media is trying to stigmatize how dangerous motorcycles are. No ****, I get it, I could die easier on a bike than in a cage. As tragic as it is I don't need to know when two stupid kids slam into each other riding like jack-asses in SoCal.

I want to believe to make the public more aware of the hazards of riding, being more cautious.

I'm cynical but if the media is reporting on it, there's some agenda behind it.

I'm glad they're making national headlines. Hopefully, this will make people more aware and think "maybe I should take take that extra second to look".

I commute and swoop around the East Coast on major interstates. Im not seeing many bikes on these roads, an occasional few, but not much. Thing is, the cage drivers are idiots, and the truckers are starting to be just as bad. Its real easy to get yourself killed out there, you have to be in the mood IMO...

I live in CT, and I can agree that most of the cage drivers are idiots. I always have to keep my head on a swivel, look a mile ahead in all directions and anticipate every stupid that a cager will make while I'm riding.
