Show us a 2019 with a bobtail fender and Springer front end. We'll wait. You seem to be trying to start an argument for the sake of arguing.
The model may be different than what you currently own, but you are not going to see a huge difference in bikes going back 2005. People with M8 will get a different engine. But looks are not all that different.

If you want an older bike, I just don't get the point or difference on a 2005. Its about set up or model at that point, not age of bike. I think you have to go to Shovel to start seeing difference. Though I like the evo baggers that don't have plastic side covers and battery is there. But other than a few small things I don't see that much difference in Evo and newer. In looks or sound department.

i think the sensible thing for me to do is take my existing bike and make it look more vintage. I’ve found some pieces, but have yet to find a vintage looking air cleaner cover that works with the Stage 1 air filter on my 103.
This. If you can afford to have someone or on it for you, then go for it. If not, I'm not sure vintage is the way to go.

If you want the so called old school look take all the plastic garbage off yours. Put on a solo seat,18"apes,a 21" narrow front wheel & tire, bob the rear fender and get a couple rattle cans of Kyrlon paint (perferablie flat black) and presto you are old school. Now vintage is another story.

But for some reason, I have the itch to get a more "vintage" bike. I just like the old school look, and I've seen some gorgeous older bikes on this forum. I'd have to sell the Road King to get the older bike. Am I nuts?
A well built and maintained cone Shovel would probably be best for you. If you could just ride one, you'll know immediately if it's for you or not. Those bikes were ridden all over God's green earth. If they're lacking anything, it would be a 5th gear, and a tall one at that.

Best of luck. Cosmetics can be costly as well.

Regarding the AC....S&S teardrop air cleaner will work on your bike and looks great. You can replace the whole unit and filter for $299.
