Default A reminder how expensive tires are.

I just had 4 premium rated tires mounted and balanced on my Camry. They come with free lifetime rotation and balance. These tires are rated 65,000 miles, I spent the same amount that a rear tire cost me on my Ultra Classic. Some how it just doesn't seem right but that's the way it is.

Are you saying that 4 tires cost you the same as 1 rear for your scoot? If so, your moto tire mechanic is ripping you off man

I paid the same for a rear tire on my Road King as I paid for a tire on my F150. You're right, something aint right.

Volume makes a difference but the price difference is sickening, specially when you get like 10000 miles on it VS 30-60000 miles or more.

Big difference between a Camry tire and an F150 tire.

Moto tires are just plain expensive. Mostly I'd guess because there are probably 1000 car and light truck tires sold for every mc tire sold.

How many F150s are out on the road using that size tire.....?

How many Camry's using that tire...?

Dont think it takes a rocket surgeon mathematician to figure out the economics of scale here.

Sounds like you got the cheapest tires on the planet for your camry and paid full retail for a harley tire at the dealer is what really happened.

One gallon of avgas (100LL) costs about $5.50+/- on average; there's just so little avgas produced compared to auto fuel - so economy of scale has much to do with it ... along with a little bit of profiteering.

All that being said, it you blow a tire on a Camry of F-150 its a bad thing, maybe even a bad day but if you blow a tire on a MC, it could be a life changer ... or life ender.

Four Michelin's for my pickup comes to a little over $1,500 all in....What's a motorcycle tire cost? $150? $200?
I don't see a problem here.

Tire replacement is the biggest racket in the Harley Industrial Complex
