Feedback on Blue Ridge Pkwy. & Little Switzerland
I am in the beginning stages of planning a multi-day solo ride with the Blue Ridge Parkway as a general target. I don't know much about the BPG but I'm learning. I'm thinking Little Switzerland might be a good place to head to from ATL. Maybe stay there a couple days and ride the area, then leave and head to the Southern end of the BRP and back home.
Anyone stayed and ridden around Little Switzerland? Pro''s & con's? I'm thinking of staying in their Diamondback Lodge. Looks nice and it's affordable.
Any other BRP nuggets of wisdom are very welcome as well!
Thanks!

I never stayed at Little Switzerland but have at the Pisgah Inn. It is close to Asheville, has a great restaurant, and a good central location for day trips. If you have money to burn I would stay at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville and hit the parkway daily from there. You cant go wrong with whatever you decide, but make sure you ride the south end with good visibility.

I rode the parkway over memorial day weekend and spent one night at Little Switzlerland in the motorcycle cabin (Diamondback). No reservations, just arrived and asked for a room. Very reasonable price for the cabin room, covered parking for my Ultra. Food was decent, and beer was reasonably priced! Enjoyed hanging out at the fire pit and talking with other motorcyclists. I have no complaints about the service and did not experience any attitudes. For me it was an unexpected stop, as I had no plans other than riding the parkway from Waynesboro, Va. to Cherokee, NC.
I would consider leaving from Atl, ride to Cherokee, NC. spend the night, then day two head to Little Switzerland for a home base for a couple days. Plenty of great roads in the area and if you wanted to from Little Switzerland, it is just a long day trip to Waynesboro, VA. mile 0 of the parkway!! Have a great trip and enjoy!!

There is a series of maps for BRP.....American maps I think..... look on line....there are like six small maps that show the BRP and surrounding areas. Strongly recommend you get these, or some type of map. Be aware there are very few gas stations/resturants/motels on the parkway. You will have to leave to find these. BUT..... it is a great trip. You will enjoy. Oh yeah, these maps show various fuel/rest/eat spots off the parkway

Had a great time here last Sept. People running it were fantastic. Bar, restaurant and a great fire at night over looking the mountains.

We rode the BRP a few years back, south to north, took our time. A weeks vaca, Spent the night in Boone , N.C. and then continued to Fancy Gap and south to Mt. Airy. This is Andy Griffith's home town and was the basis for Mayberry. Took in the town, next morning we headed back to the BPR but first we hit "The Hungry Farmer", good southern breakfast buffet. Enjoyed the BRP north to Roanoke. We didn't stay or hit Little Switzerland, so no opinions on that but really enjoyed the ride.
