Default Locking my new helmet to the bike?

So I’ve been using a half helmet for the last few years while riding Harleys and just throw them up on the mirror, I recently purchased a new Shoei Neotec 2 (no need to get into why).

The issue I have is that I haven’t locked a helmet to a bike in a long time and when I used to I would just run a gun lock through the d ring. Well lo and behold this new helmet has a ratchet system and no d ring.

For tomorrow’s ride I put the rack on the back of the bike and will run a gun lock through the chin bar and the rack together (rack has locking tab). I do not want to have to run the rack all the time.

So what says you on ideas to lock the helmet to the bike without the rack? I do not feel comfortable leaving a $700 helmet unlocked.

Looks like HD and other sell a carabiner style lock with a coated metal wire bungee cord. I have to see if I can hang the helmet on the mirror and it run down to the crash bar/engine guard... I could also do the same with the pass backrest but I still don’t like running the all the time either.

Same dilemma here. Damn bags are too narrow to hold a full face. I wind up having to carry my helmet with me.

I went down to my local hardware store and made this to lock my helmet to my bike . I use it when I can't keep a close eye on my bike while away . I used aquarium hose to cover the cable to prevent damaging the helmet . I know it won't help much if someone really wants it , but a little deterrent is better than nothing . Total cost was less than $10.00

A cable is harder to cut. Combined with a lock, you should be good (think bicycle lock).
I like to believe the bike crowd hasn't degraded lower than that yet.

Where do you put the cable on the bike for locking purposes?

I hang my helmet off my road peg and loop the cable through the D-link and around the crash bar .
