Harley Davidson Aermacchi
Last weekend, I spotted one of these bikes at the local biker watering hole. I think this is a 350 Sprint but I didn't stick around to talk with the owner. Does anyone have a guess to what year this bike is and the model?
Also, does anyone here own one of these Italian Harley's?

My ol' lady had one of those little Aermacchi's when we first hooked up. It was her excuse to get me to ride out to her property and check it out for a possible restoration. When we moved her out of the place she was, her tweaker ex snuck the thing out of there before I could get my hands on it and the cops wouldn't do jack squat. I was going to beat his *** but when I finally caught and confronted him, he literally started crying like a bitch. I guess I'm getting soft in my old age... as I just couldn't bring myself to pound his balling face in.
We had planned to restore it and call it "Piglet". Never got a real good pic of it because it was packed too tight in the basement but here's a few I grabbed just to help me figure out what it was and what needed to be done. I'd never seen or heard of one prior.

Biker Pepe, yours looks like a 65cc Leggero.
Aerramachi built several cafe racers. The campaigned a few, but, to the best of my knowledge, Harley never built one. That said, over the years there have been several built, using the Aerramachi body parts on the Harley imported frames. By most accounts, the 5 speed gear box, out of the 73/74 sprint, coupled to the earlier 72 engine is the best combination.

The first 350 Sprint was introduced with the 1969 model. (Ashtray head, I believe). The 73/74 saw a new engine and transmission version. The engine used in the 69 model was a watered down version of their very successful racing engine. The 5 speed, in the 73 and 74 was also derived from the racing bikes. It's sad that only the general design of each made it into the street bikes. But, that is why the pre 73 engine and 73/74 transmission are the choice of retro racers today.

I have 3 of them
First one is a 67 Model 250H with the european tank
All original bike right down the tires
Second one is a 67 SS250 I had it restored a few years ago.
Still needs the NOS factory exhaust installed.
Shown here with a second tank I had done in all black
Here's the stock painted tank
The last one is a 1972 Shortster, a one year only bike. 65CC 3 speed 2 stroke bike. That thing rips for a minibike!
The rusty looking muffler guard was replaced with a hand made SS steel one that the guy who restored it made
Also added a newly recovered seat
