I have the HF lift and have had zero issues. People swear by the J&S and I'm sure it's a nice lift. But have yet to hear anyone intelligently explain how the J&S is superior to the HF unit. I can see the welds on the HF unit are not very artistic where the J&S is really pretty. But so far none of the welds on my HF unit have failed. And if they do, I have a welder.
I'd be careful to strap the bike in if you're planning to do any work on it while on the lift. But I suspect that's also the case with JS or any other lift on the market.
Now the welder is another story. First welder I ever bought came from HF. After about a week of welding with it I took it back and got a Lincoln. So I get it...HF is lower quality.

No need at all to strap the bike on the J&S lift. It is that solid. You can climb on the bike, I've done that a few times just because.
J&S has a video, and I saw a live demonstration of a beefy guy sitting on the front wheel of the bike while on the lift.
Even with one wheel pulled, still rock solid.
I'm fine with the extra cost for that kind of quality.
