Default Disappointed with Shoei customer service after purchase.

Conversation with Shoei Rep....

Purchased a GT AIR II XL and I need 39mm cheek pads. I cannot find them anywhere including your site. I really like the helmet and don’t want to return it but I need to snug it up a bit.

How can I get some 39mm cheek pads?

Hi Dwayne,
They are currently on backorder and we do not expect them before the end of August.

Hi ****

39mm pads have just become available at Revzilla. I really wanted to do the exchange with Shoei but since that’s not possible this is my only option. I’m coming out of pocket another $60 on a $600 helmet just to get a proper fit.

I would really appreciate it if I could send the 35mm to Shoei for some kind of refund?

Thanks,
Dwayne

Hi Dwayne,
I am sorry we were out of stock, occasionally we do run out of items and have to wait for restock from Japan. Unfortunately we cannot do a refund for you on this.

Not what I expected from a brand like Shoei... Unfortunate!

I like the helmet but the lack of attention to customer satisfaction after purchase is disappointing.

I would like to point out that I do post to HDForums on a regular basis and I would love to be able to share a positive experience. As of now the experience is becoming more negative than positive. I followed the sizing charts to a T and the helmet is loose and now I am coming out of pocket for another $60 to resolve the issue??

I have seen negative reviews about this issue already around the web. I would think that Shoei would prefer to remedy this than have another unsatisfied customer?

End of Conversation no more replies from Shoei

Revzilla received stock yesterday and I should receive today. I highly recommend Revzilla but I’m very disappointed that Shoei is charging premium price for Helmets and then charging again for cheek pads to get the fit just right.

I’ll update if Shoei makes this right.

Maybe if you had bought at a brick and mortor you could have dialed in the sizing while you were standing there. It seems unrealistic to expect Shoei to throw in multiple sets of cheek pads just because the helmet is expensive. If they did that the helmets would be even more expensive.

Check their website they advertise that they will exchange liners and cheek pads to dial in the fit as long as they are not used. This gives you a chance to try it on and then exchange pieces for a custom fit.

Problem here was they didn’t have anything in stock so I would have to wait till the end of August. I also was not asking for a free set just an exchange in sizes.

You can send the cheek pads in and we will exchange them at no charge if they are unused. You can send them to;
Shoei Helmets
3002 Dow Ave
Ste 128
Tustin, Ca 92780
Attn: Inspections

Be sure to include a letter stating why you are sending the pads in, what size you want to exchange them for, and a daytime phone number w/ return address.

Well its not exactly the right thing to do but you can get the pads from Revzilla, package up your pads and send them to Shoei, then when Shoei sends the new pads send them to Revzilla for a refund.

So, Shoei responds appropriately and you are so entitled that you want what you want right now and cannot wait?

No issue with Shoei here. Issue is with your entitled mentality.

I hate to agree with this, because I could easily see myself on the other end of this, but you can’t blame a manufacturer for unavailability of parts, likely due to demand. Maybe return the helmet and wait to purchase one when you can confirm that the pads you need are available.

I’ve done this several times, but wasn’t aware of the exchange program, and bought cheek pads out of pocket. I didn’t think spending the coin was that big a deal to customize the fit, but that’s me.

Good Luck!

$600 helmet & they can't even get the cheek-pads the actual size they state on the sizing chart?

did you read about this issue before, or after the non fitting helmet came in?

I was actually considering buying a Shoei......but at their prices if this is the best after-care they can muster.....i'll stick with Daytona
