Default Cycle gear Bilt brand? Any good?

Looking at getting some rain gear and they have pretty descent reviews on their own site but for some reason i can’t mentally get on board with the brand. It seems like a less quality brand to me for some reason.

I have a Built mesh jacket. I told myself it was a jacket I'd have for a year or so then get a good one. That was about 8 years ago.

I just bought a pair of Bilt mesh riding pants this past week. I have avoided this brand for all the obvious reasons about quality, etc. So far they seem like a quality pair of pants. Stitching is good and tight, they use YKK zippers and the same type of basic CE armor most brands use. That's about the extent of what I can tell you. However, I do wear a pair of Bohn Armor mesh pants underneath if I'm doing a long day or logging a lot of miles. I got them to have an abrasive resistant shell that could flow a lot of air. My thick, kevlar lined jeans just don't cut it in the hot weather.

Honestly, since you looking for rain gear I would go to the store and check their brand out in person. I bought rain gear 10 years ago and have only used it once, maybe I've been lucky.

Bilt is decent gear for the price. I have had the same Bilt textile jacket for years, and its still going strong. I was wearing Bilt gloves when I had my accident in December, and they performed as advertized, with one small hole worn through a finger (but no damage to my skin inside). I currently wear a Bilt helmet, and aside from being a bit hot, it performs as well as any other helmet in its price range. For rain gear, I wouldnt hesitate to get some as you will not be using it constantly, its more an OH **** kind of need

i have had a HD brand "3 in 1" jacket for longer than I can remember, and i wear every time I ride (mesh long sleeve, cuts wind, blocks sun)

years ago, the guy at my store said if I had the money, to step up above BILT (their store brand for Cycle Gear) but it sounds like it has come around.

for the price difference, seems like you could try it.

I have some Bilt products. I'm not disappointed in any of 'em.

Somewhat hit or miss. I have one of their mesh jackets that’s held up well.

I have a pair of their Bilt Dexter shoes and I love them. Love the zipper, too lazy to tie laces anymore.

I have a Bilt perforated leather jacket. I’ve been very pleased with it’s durability and comfort. Unlike the H-D jackets it comes with decent shoulder and elbow armor. The back pad is some foam, but it’s better than nothing. YKK zippers throughout and solid stitching at the seams.
