Do other's experience lost confidence, negative attitudes from hd service adviser's
So I state my question as. "Do others notice the negative attitudes from service adviser's as soon as they try to sell you a service and you decline the service". I have also spoke about future upgrades wanted, fishtails, apes, etc. Then they ask me if I had plans on performing the work myself . Now when I purchased the motorcycle from the same place, and people; now under new ownership. The people I worked with no longer work there. So they are like all new vultures swarming when you walk in, God forbid you look at a motorcycle on the floor, But god forbid stand with the promises made when selling the bike with the platinum storage and service plan. Where prior to the new ownership they treated every one like family. Now it is all clearly superficial. The last service was only an inspection and they totally got me, dropped off before the end of 2019 and had a 80.00 credit. and I had til end of year to use. so dropped bike off. They then call me jan 2nd and state I owe for the state inspection. Cause it got done this year not 2019. I pick it up and it has a green 12 last year sticker. Well the local dealer has lost my trust over a state inspection. Now that being said, kinda sad, I bought the bike there, upgrade it there at purchase, purchase the top of the line service plan, dyno, and piped and turner, air cleaner. All service done there, Now because I asked questions about upgrades and needs for the re-tuning asking prior. For rough $$ same guy is like 500.00 . So after loosing my registration and insurance. paying the bill. I load the bike with the shop foreman and ask the same questions I asked the counter person.. The answer was no more than 300.00 absolute top for tune adjustment, and yes I can install the 2019 heritage lh turn/cruise module. since already enabled it is a plug and play. That information was worth the money spent on the state inspection. The talent is good on the senior level at the dealership. but the counter is really a total let down. This is just the last let down, every service has one issue of workmanship. As I have to re do. As I have tried to not be the complaining customer. Please share other experience's members have experienced on the lost confidence.

how to put sticky on this thread?
Admin is it possible to put a sticky on this thread please?

Your service is only as good as the mechanic doing the work. The first service I had done at the dealer after that I have done all the work myself. If you find a good mechanic if they are a indy do what you can to keep them in business...as for dealer mechanics, ask around and you will usually get the name of who the standout mechanics are and then specifically request that they work on your bike. If you are able to do the work yourself the money you save on labor will pay for the other upgrades you want to do.
Some things its better to let the expert do who does it day in and day out and knows the tricks. Many other things you can do yourself even though it might take longer Its time versus money and what is my time worth? or would I rather pay someone. so I dont have to mess with it. I have more than one bike to ride so its okay for one to be down while I work on it. |
Sorry op but your thread got me dizzy 🤪
|
Allow me to suggest the concept of paragraphs. And why do you think that dizzying post deserves to be a sticky?
|
Sorry thought, just drawn out... kinda one long rant. that is why I asked. who am I to expect or demand. I hope no one took offence. just my long drawn out thought. You would never want to be in my head. sometimes I do not use periods. my bad. I did not intend it to be so long.
|
Only to ask. Does it deserve to stay on the sticky list? It was a heart felt post, I asked to seek some possible forethought or wisdom. it may not be sticky material. if not please put where it needs be. I mean no disrespect

Does not warrant a stickie.

I always go in to see the service dept with Munchkin Duncan Donuts. They love me!!!

Gues I am lucky, have a family-owned dealership that I have been using for the past 15 years. The same service manager in all that time.,Once, I had some minor issues with the bike and it was going to take a bit of time, he told me to take his bike, (new Fatboy with a 117), and come back in a few hours. They are always honest and a great group of guys and gals. it's a shame that not all dealerships are of this caliber.
