This is the top flange of the faring mounting bracket on a 2019 RGS. If you look closely just above it there is the split line of the top fork shroud. I consider this to be the centerline.

from day one the fairing just looked “off “to me. Had it in 2 different shops where they “ tried” to reallign it...and i can tell you they didn’t. Got sick of the BS and during my winter upgrades, decided to dig into this. From what I can tell, the mounting bracket can only mount to the frame one way without room for adjustment laterally.

My only option is to add a shim on the 2 left side fairing mounting holes in photo, to bring the entire fairing into alignment....any other ideas or work arounds? I really don’t want to tale it back in because I will wait forever and it still won’t be right...those fckrs...

Note: when in the saddle, the entire dash looks tilted to the right about 1/8 a 1/4”. The misaligned fairing mount bracket seems to be the culprit. Which also means my headlight is shinning off to the right.

My OCD would not allow that so I get where you are coming from. I have no solution other than to offer that I understand why that would drive you nuts! I will follow as I know you will get this sorted out!

Right answer is to cut it off, and have it re-welded to properly center it. I don't know that there is any other right way to do it. It would not be a difficult fix for a competent welder/ fabricator. You could probably shield everything around it to limit the amount of tear-down.

That being said, you could give your idea to shim it a shot. You'd only be out your time, and the cost of the shims.

What the hell.. That speaks volumes about who is building our Harley's and the quality control at the factory these days.. Was at my dealership last month and they had a full pallet of defective OEM parts going back to the factory. Ask my mechanic about it and he shook his head. Not to be negative but Harley better fix their quality issues at what the are asking for their products..

Be very careful if / while welding on your chassis ... Electrical components don't like it

Thanks for the replies guys!

Update. I did take the bracket completely off and it looks to be square. The front plate where the four mounting holes are in relation to the four arms that go back to the frame and mont to the neck. I suspect that the four through holes on the frame are out of alignment, someone jacked up the jig on that day no doubt, probably a Friday. 🤨. No adjustments are possible laterally, it is what I suspected.

I put some tape down, and marked center on the upper tab of the bracket. Then using the split line in the upper triple clamp as a center, I struck another line. Difference = 3/16”.

While I’m in here, I will be going with the shim option first. I have read other posts where people have had a similar issue and have done the shim with good results.

New bracket is only about $80 if your whim idea doesn’t work.
