Made me think of Gary Ellis....
You meant JIMMY Ellis, right?
YES!

Undoubted lost in the perpetual coma I lived in for so many years!

This is a most interesting thread.... Before I came home last night I had stopped by Allen.M's to pick up a few tools & we were looking at a old CR125 in his garage talking dirt... and that we should catch a SuperCross race next time they come thru. I know it's not like old school, but then.... what is?

Added in edit:
This got me to thinking about some of the things that were cool "gotta have's", back then.... Anyone remember these:
Magura Levers & later, the short plastic version
HighPoint boots
Electro or Original Bell Moto-Star helmets
FMF pipe for the 2-Strokes
DG pipe for the 4-Strokes
"Dual-Stage" fiber Reed Valves
ProTrack (?) chain tensioner (w/the red roller!)
The GoldBelt
GoldenSpectro - metal can, w/pull tab
The Gunner Gasser! (throttle w/the pulley)
The Tree, truck, or tool box (because we had no kickstands & bike stands were not out yet)

Roger was working with Suzuki helping develop younger riders last I heard. Ahhh the early 70's, I was into desert racing in the So Cal desert, lots of fun, the tiring kind. Suspension had yet to be developed to long travel so we took a hammering out there loving every minute. Those were the days before all the land closures so we had a new course every week, now the races are confined to off road areas only so the land really takes a beating.

Default Blaaast from the past.

Old pics pried from a photo album and scanned so we can all feel our ages. I found one of the internegs as well. I'm going to try scanning it as well.

Bob Hannah at Seattle Supercross (1980??)

Marty Smith in practice at Puyallup Trans AMA, November 6th, 1977.
Marty swept both motos that day with teammate Tommy Croft going 2-2.

Still can't figure out what the **** to do to have the pics show up in the post.
What code do I copy in Photobucket??????

Yeah, Didn't he ride for GT then went on to either Haro or SE? He was pro back when I used to race amateur.

He rode for Factory GT from 84-98. If you remember Gary Ellis, you probably remember John Purse. He was still competitive as a AA Pro until last year. Nearly 40 yrs old, and still able to hang with the kids!!!!

I am sure you can find out loads of info on him here, plus see alot of old school bmx stuff

Here's Roger!
Sorry for the poor quality. I scanned a crappy 8 X 10 from a photo album to get this. This is why I want to find the interneg I had made and see if something better can't be done 30 years later.
