Fatboy or Road King....hmmm
What to do?!! Well, I'm seriously thinking about getting a road king. I did the math and at retail prices, I've got about 7k invested in my fatboy, not including orig price. Naturally, I love my fatboy. However, I think I'd ride even more if I had the saddlebags. The catch is I don't like leather bags and with drag bars, badlander, etc, my fatboy wouldn't look right with them, anyway.
Here's the debate: Pros: 1) I am WELL into the black on the fatboy. 2) I have a lot invested. 3) I know the bike and I'm comfortable with it. Cons: 1) Less than 3 years old and over 20k miles on it. 2) Warranty expires soon. 3) No saddlebags limits rides because I often have to carry things to work that require more than a backpack. Opinions? |

Keep the Fatboy AND buy the Road King

Assuming the Fat Boy isn't the last bike you'll ever own, if you have the "itch" I would go with it and get the Road King. How can you be making a mistake? Another 3 or 4 years you might be considering something else if you're like most of us.

I had a nice fatboy also. Went with the RK on the second bike. Should have got the RK the first time. Now that I have a bagger, wouldnt go back. Got a detachable Quadzilla fairing, nice to have tunes on the long rides. Good luck !

Also you would be surprised what a nice set of drag bars and a bad lander seat looks like with bags.
See http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x..._Profile_3.jpg Since you seem to enjoy your Fatboy and you are already in the "Black" have you thought about turning it into a nice bagger? A set of hard bags and a wide custom rear fender would be a lot cheaper then a new bike, and it would be a one of a kind instead of another road king. Just food for thought since I am looking at possibly picking up an old softtail to do the same thing. That is if I can't talk the wife into a Road Glide first. Jeff |

Go with the Road King. Has bags, can get removable windshield for long rides
and you can customize it to look like a classic or a hot rod or a tourer. Very versatile bike. |

RE: Fatboy or Road King....hmmm
i'm with you i don't like the look of my fatboy with bags. i bought some easy brackets for my saddle bags so when i don't need them i don't have them. there's no bracket or nothing left on the bike to make it ugly. i ride mostly with them off but it's nice to be able to pop them on if i do.
