Default Question

When you pick out your bike at the dealer, & decide you want some changes, say change pipes, handle bars ect. before you take delivery, do you pay for those extra at the time of pick up or is it all just added into the cost of the bike?

Thanks,
John

it really is your choice - I have done it both ways - rolled the stuff into my loan and not rolled it into my loan and paid for it separately. If you have the $$ then have the work done and pay for it separately so you don't have to pay the interest that comes with a loan. Either way - you gotta pay for it before she rolls out the door. I don't think the dealer really cares one way or another. Do you get a price break doing it one way over another - not that I have experienced. Maybe others can provide you with more information.

It depends on your dealer. If you got a quote with the original purchase of the bike then you pay for the bike with the accessories included. If you decide on them after signing the papers you will probably have to write two checks. Many dealers give a nice discount on parts when you purchase them with a new bike. Some dealers will give you a little while to decide and some do it at the time of purchase only. Give your dealer a call and check with them to make sure.

I'm getting ready to buy a bike this week. My dealer is offering 10% off all accessories/parts and 10% off all labor for the installation. I think most dealers offer similar discounts with the purchase of a new bike.
I suggest you work out the details of the transaction before you write any check. I would be surprised if the dealer didn't offer some sort of discount on accessories.

Negotiate a discount at the time of purchase. I got a real good deal on Parts, Accessories and riding gear, so it makes it worthwhile to get everything I want (need) up front.

When I bought my bike, it was just added to the total price, I didn't think about trying to pay for it separately. It just seemed easy at the time to have it all added together
