Default HD Motorcycle Shipments for 2007

Based on the figures supplied by Harley Davidson, I can't help but wonder if the Buell division is dragging down profits. Also, notice the substantial reduction in the number of units shipped for 2007 versus 2006.

Qtr 4 for 2007 Units missing.

If you compare the numbers using the 4th Qtr 2006 for 2007 the number are not to far from each other.

My dealer dropped Buell as well. I'd say it's only a matter of time before they drop the line entirely.

Nice catch. I just looked at the total numbers. Duh!

They should have final Q4 numbers soon.

It wouldn't surprise me if the Motor Company sold Buell. The new Buell1125 sportbike might make the company more attractive to buyers.

lWhat impressed me was how the "custom" division outsold the "touring" class. By a large amount too. Around here, touring class bikes are the most popular.

I remember the days when 12,000 units was a year's production. Whata company!

Don't write off Buell yet. They have been a strong contender on the race circuit and getting better each year. There's truth in the old saying , What wins on Sunday , Sells on Monday. Here are the 07 NHRA standings.

Bike sales are slowing exactly the same as the economy is! Read the news papers regarding the housing crisis and foreclosures, bad loans, adjustable loans and all of that crap. Would expect HD to take a significant downturn in 2008 as a result! 2007 was the beginning and a surprise of how well HD did. The economy is starting to dive.

As far as Buell goes, it is doing fine and not bringing the company down it is doing the exact opposite. The only issue is that it is currently such a small division that the effect either way is minimal.

I did hear that sales were up for the year on HD thong's for women, not all news was bad.

Except that Q4 '07 is not going to be close to Q4 '06 numbers, as Harley has already indicated. Look for the '07 unit totalto be 30-40,000less than '06. Not disastrous, but not good either.
