Anyone got any advice for getting those sh!tty gaskets to stay in place when re-installing pipes? I get one to stay put, start jimmying the pipe into place, and the other falls off. I'm thinking two sets of hands better than solo, but would like to try. On hold for now due to messed-up caliper, and trying to think of things to do. Had to remove the exhaust so's I could torque down my tranny cover, damn fat bob pipes get in the way. Have to do something about that once my wife forgets about this past week's zanotti shipment.
I've used Permatex Ultra Black RTV, it does not take all that much. I figure its good for Temperature range -65ºF to 500ºF (-54°C to 260°C) intermittent; resists auto and shop fluids and vibration.
And what the hey, if it burns off once the pipes are on, thats fine then the carbon will hold them in place!!!
That's a good idea, didn't even think about that. What method do you use? Do you apply permatex to the gasket and stick the gasket into the engine exhaust port, or apply to the gasket and stick it to the pipe? Thanks.

I hate when you dont have enough hands. I got nerve damage or something still waiting for the dianosis in my good hand and arm and with out my painkillers and neverve pills I cant hold a pen and it really sucks when i got something I got to do but i do have a couple of good freinds and nieghbors who are pretty much family and were always helping each other out. I would just have the wife give a hand or a nieghbor. I wouldnt put too much silicone on a bike with a new gasket. however I think that might be stuff I need to help suplement the beer can shims i have on the ironhead (THANKS FOR THE LINK RAM, IS THERE ANY CHAIN STORES THAT SELL IT OVER THE COUNTER) How you making out with the bolt issue
