I just ordered a Dragonfly fairing, but I am getting the stereo components myself. My question is what wiring harness do I need to connect the stereo head unit to the bike, and where do i get it?
The only wiring you will need to do for the bike side is power. To my knowledge no one makes an off the shelf product specifically for this, but you can find an adapter for this. You are going to need keyed 12vpower and ground in the fairing at a minimum if you don't want to lose your memory on the radio you are also going to need unswitched 12v power.
You know I was thinking more about this last night and what I would do is ground the radio at the mount on the triple tree (forks) so that I only had to run two wires 12v + switched and un-switched just under the console back to the ignition to tap power. This would be the easiest and simplest way I can think of to do this.
If you will send me your address I have some two wire waterproof connectors I can send you that you can use to do this as well. They are similar to the pigtail that is on your battery float charger if you have one.
