I agree with the folks who say the "Average" is BS. This would be a statistical calculation of various populations. The comment that region or state would make a difference is false because the difference within the regions is greater that the difference between the regions.

I do not know how "Blue Book" milage is benchmarked. A low milage bike might be a good deal or a low milage bike might have been in the shop so much the frustrated owner sold it and now it's the next guys problem.

Other than recommending you do not buy a bike that sat unstarted for 3 years, this is an awesome time to buy a used bike.

 

Usually 8 to 9 thousand per year for the last 7 years. Always take a 3,500 to 4,000 mile trip each summer. Not a daily rider.

 

Motorcyclists usually have low mileage cars , also!!!

 

You can't automatically think that just because a bike has half the miles in a year than yours does that the rider is not out riding. Some of us have more than one bike. [8D]

 

i use mine on the weekends and some during the week at night but mostly on the weekend 10k

 

I pretty much ride mine everywhere, hence the screen name. I'll end up with over 100K on mine by the end of the year. That's about 40K from where it's at now. If gas prices don't go down, I'm sure I'll have twice that by the end of next year.... But I also work all around the US doing environmental cleanups so I'm definitely not the average rider.

 

Don't know what the average is ---too many variables. I ride 15,000 plus here and have buddies that ride more and some that ride less. I know that there are a lot of older low mileage bikes on the market. Too many people are into garage art and not the love of riding.
