Doesn't do a thing for me.

I have to post this seperately to the last post of "mid-life crisis." Last june, on the day my Peace Officer Edition Softail Heritage Classic (07) was delivered from Worth H-D in KCMO my long time friend came over and looked at the bike. Now, I believe in each to his own and do whatever turns you on. But I will never, ever, forget my friends comment which was, as he looked at the bike, "Doesn't do a thing for me." I just kept putting wax on it and polishing it, getting bonded as I say. After he left I thought about the comment, and all the riding I've done since I got my first bike in 1970. I'm 56 now. I really feel sorry for my friend because he'll never feel the comradery and the enjoyment of the open road and motorcycling. All he has is a Ford Expedition and a Ford Excursion. To each his own but what a bore. I feel like driving those two vehicles would be more like a prison sentence!

Not everyone shares our particular passion, your freind seems to lack passion all together. I pity people like that, they get no joy out of life. The least he could have done is appreciate a beautiful piece of machinery.

I think you said it correctly: To each his own. Maybe Excursion drivers wave at each other.

I just don't know why people don't keep comments like that to themselves.

I agree

He might have said that because he wished he had one. I'd feel sorry for him.

Sure must've cut you pretty deep for you to remember it this long.Definitely not a normal response when a friend showsyou his new toy he's so proud of. Even if he wasn't into bikes hecould've at least found something nice to say about it. My first impression would be that he was jealous.Hopefully it's not becauseyou owe him money.

Since it bugging you, maybe you should get it off your chest and tell him that it's been eatingat you.Friends should be able to talk about this sort of thingto each other.

You are all correct. You see, it probably better that he doesn't ride. He did have a Kaw 650 once. But he has a hard time with machinery. He breaks everything and doesn't have a concept of machinery. I've found that people that like motorcycles have a distinct appreciation of it. You don't drive a motorcyle, it becomes and is part of you. That's why you ride it, and work on it. So, to each his own.

Some people don't get it, which is fine by me.A friend however, should at least find something good to say about your bike. Sounds like he's kind of a dick.

Your friend has no manners. Maybe you should get some new friends to go with your new bike.
