Two lanes going my direction. \\;I'm in the right when the cage to my left (I'm right at her quarter panel) decides to change lanes with no look and no signal. \\;We were in a corner and ran out of lane and laid the bike down quicker than I could even think. \\;She heard the horn and actually stopped. \\;When she got out of the car she got an ear-full from me and two other drivers (nice to have back up). \\;She was freaking out \\;more than I was. \\;Turns out she didn't have insurance and her license was revoked! [:@] \\;
 \\; She ends up with 3 tix, Failure to remain in her lane, Revoked license (Minimum $5K!) and no insurance. \\;  \\; I had all the gear on (helmet, steel toed boots, armoured jacket, and a bright yellow Icon reflective vest. \\;I end up with a torn up MCL in my right leg, a lot of pulled muscles and damaged 2 month old bike that will cost me a deductible to fix. \\;Not \\;nearly as bad as it could \\;have been. \\;  \\; Cop at the scene is a Harley guy who instructs the Rider's Edge course locally. \\;He put her 100% at fault and visited me in the hospital to give me the report number. \\;Also had a couple folks \\;provide their names and numbers as witnesses if I need it.  \\; So I guess I've been initiated. \\;Have to call the insurance now. \\;Figure it works the same as a car doesn't it??? \\;I assume the dealer will do the repairs??? \\; |

Glad you're alive and kicking. She's just stupid in every way, no kidding. Glad they nailed her.
Now you can resign from the "I've never laid a bike down and I never will" club. :D Good luck with the repairs. Yeah a dealer can fix it but in my case I'd have my indy do it. Service sucks at the local dealer. |

Glad to hear you escaped relatively unscathed. I would think your insurance company will allow you to choose where you get the bike repaired, but they might require quotes from 2 or 3 different places. \\;I \\;think the final call is up to the adjustor.
 \\; Maybe a topic for a new thread, but how can we stop these people with revoked licenses and/or no insurance from driving? \\; |

Glad to hear you will be OK. \\;\\\\\\; Get the bike fixed and get back on the road.
 \\;\\\\\\; I hope you learned something from all of this. \\;\\\\\\; Never, ever ride in someones blind spot (quarter panel). \\;\\\\\\; Speed up or slow down but stay out of that area. \\;\\\\\\; Not faulting you, jus' sayin....  \\;\\\\\\; Ride Safe - Heal Quickly |
RE: Joined the Cage Victim's Club
I don't know what state you are in but here in Georgia, you only have to get 1 quote for repair, the insurance company my try to BS you saying you need more, but really they are looking for the cheapest one, and also you have the right to have it repaired by the shop of your choice, but beware, if you get more than 1 quote, they are only going to pay as much as the lowest.

I try not to ride along side cagers at all, if possible. I either blast by them or hang back until I can, so when they decide to instantly change lanes, I have room to maneuver. I always ride with the assumption that any cage around me is going to go out of their way to run over me. Tom |

Well that certainly sucks. Glad you are alive though.

 \\;Amen to that. The only one looking out for the one on the bike, is the one on the bike. Ride Safe.[sm=biker.gif]
