Default Anyone try this for transporting?

I have a 07 Dodge Ram with a 6.5' bed. I have a cross box toolbox so I dont have much room in the bed, even with the gate down. I have a big enclosed trailer, but dont want to drag it out just to travel with one bike. I was considering a utility trailer but dont want another trailer in the driveway. Also a trailer would be around the same money. I can get a good deal on one of these.

Anyone have one?
What do you think?

Just curious what the max allowable tongue weight is your Ram's hitch. I think your Goldwing may be taxing the limit a little bit.

I basically want it for the Nightrain. I have been looking on the net for the max tongue weight. I will look in my manual when I get home.

The maximum tongue weight is not the 700 lb bike plus another 100 lbs in steel. That is pushing the 1/2 ton limit of the entire truck.

that's a lot of weight that far back from the rear wheels. I'd think the truck steering would be 'light'. besides, I think the allowable tongue weight is gonna be around 350 - 500 lbs, unless you're running a 350.

Payload capacity 1500 (minimum)
517 kg (1140 lbs)Payload capacity 1500 (maximum)825 kg (1820 lbs)
That's the payload range for an 07 Ram depending on your config. However, I have an '07 with towing package and if I remember correctly, the max dead tongue weight on it is only #750. #650 Night only leaves you #100 for the carry system. Pretty touch and go, as you are into the safety factor on that one.

Mine is the same as yours. It is a class IV hitch on my truck. On one of their pictures I have seen they are using one on a Ford f150.

I saw a guy up here alst year that had a setup like that on the back of his holiday trailer, however he had 2 hitches mounted to his trailer and it slid into 2 receivers. Obviously put on custom afterwards. It's a neat idea. I'd love to see one of those up close mounted to something so I could see how it works. I want to buy a holiday trailer, but I was looking at the toy hauler ones so I could take my bike with me. That setup would save me a whole lot of money!

Any suggestions? I was originally thinking of putting some kind of thick diamondplate to stick out about a foot from the end of the tailgate. I am 80" from the box to the very end of the gate. Its just not enough. The center of the rear wheel would be on the very end of the tailgate. Then I could just use ramps. Im very open for suggestions.
