Sorry about your deal man , but these days , only way to be in control about your own destiny is to work for yourself either in service work as a consultant , the job for life stuff is gone , seems tough to even get 20 years in any of the 5 military branches anymore..... the retirement costs are now being factored in each years budget.
Now with NASA ... maybe some of the "scientists" should be less political , once they started thier global warming press releases , I started sending emails to my congressional folks we need to spend dollars on national protection , NOT space crap as I prefer to think of space as solving things not advancing bogus issues , and I'm a Floridian , where NASA does (and I've delivered to) help the state coffers.
i was working for wyle labs a contractor that we had our own building built by nasa on k.s.c near h.q. wyle has had this contract for 8 years but 10/01/08 they are being replaced by EG&G. there was 40 employees on first shift they are only keeping 10. wyle labs worked under SGS and SGS also lost there contract i will get 3 weeks severents pay the aerospace is very shakey
Hang in there. More often than not, a person who lost a job finds another that they like better and makes more money.
Over the years I lost two jobs. Both times it took 9 months to find another. Each one was a better position and better pay. But that nine month period each time was tough. Took every kind of min wage part time job that I could find to kept going. Security guard, convenient store clerk and even picked up cans. Wife worked full time and had insurance which got us through.
Now the part about the Security Guard making min. wage is funny, I work in the Security field and every one that I have ever hired that came from many other jobs that did pay min. wage were surprised to find out that they would be making more, most times twice as much as min. wage. I just had to laugh at that statement. Shoot, my pay alone is at about 3 times more then min. wage. Maybe you should go be a Security Guard!!!!!!
Hope you find a job soon.... as you and all other posters need to have an income so you can pay taxes and keep me going.... OH, forgot I also pay taxes on my income.
Best of luck and sorry to hear your fast ride to the stars has turned into a speed boat to poverty.

I feel your pain brotha! I moved out here to San Diego from noerthern Virginia in March. I was unemployed for 5 months! It's hard to not get depressed during that time because as men we don't feel very manly when you're not bringing in a paycheck.
The only upside was I had A LOT of riding time on my hands.
Just started working again in August, hate where I'm at, but I gotta put food on the table.
Best of luck to you and keep your head up. Being unemployed in today's market is tough.
Sorry to hear about the job loss. Life is a roller coaster you have never been on. Some ups and some downs. Never know what is around the next corner. Hope it all works out.
By the way. I am a Floridian and love the Space Program. Have always been amazed since I saw the moon landing at age 12. Many of the items we have today was developed out of studies from NASA. But I agree that politics is getting in the way of progression these days.
