What are the symtoms of a bad battery?
Will it affect the performance of the harley?
Here are some of the stuff I've been experiencing:
-poor gas mileage
-poor cranking
-poor acceleration
-high RPM
-sputtering
-misfiring
-etc
The harley actually started up this morning (37deg), but it died while I warming it up and will not turn over anymore.
Let me know.

Absolutley all the above, my bro 07 Road King was dealing with same situations. Check you post connections, one had just vibrated loose and the bike was doing all kind of things...

Is this your original battery? If it is, you're long overdue for a new one anyway. If this is a new(er) battery, make sure the terminal connections are tight and have no corrosion. Are the electrical componets working properly when the motor is not running?

Don't forget to check the charging system too. When my stator blew It kinda ran like that as the battery discharged. Little battery light came on about 5 miles from home. About a mile from the house started running rough and the bike quit just as I went to put the kick stand down when I got home.

Push-started my bagger once (by myself), only to find out when I got home that one battery connection was a little loose.
That aside, you're charging system should maintain it while running. If it does not, your stator may be unplugged (easy and cheapest fix), volt-pak may be bad (cheaper), or your stator is bad (with labor, not cheap unless you can do it yourself).
Don't let it go on too long. When one component goes, it strains the others until they fail before their time.

i believe its still the original battery... i have a slow trickle charger w/ % indication and its telling me that its at 45% (not sure what that means), but its slowly climbed up and stopped at 66%, but still wont turn over... its cranking, but wont start...

As someone stated earlier, take it to Autozone, Advance Auto or Batteries Plus and have them check the battery for you. It'll help cross something off of list of items to check.
