Have Harley Davidson's Recent announcements help stock prices?

With the Big 3 slowing business as they look for government help, HD has kept moving forward, and even with the rocky market, HOG has appeared to calm for now...do you think that the steadying of the stock price has something to do with the recent news? (Read this weeks HOG Report here)

Well, the "HOG" stock is hanging in there, and is in somewhat of a holding mode...

It closed today at $16.57, after a low of $15.15 and a high of $16.65....

History for the past '52-week period' shows a low of $11.54 and a high of $50.04...

I own quite a bit of their stock, and of course most of it was purchased when it was in the $60.00+ range...

In today's world, day to day and week to week movements of stock prices are somewhat irrelavent. Over the short-term, we see a lot of volatility for many reasons but over the long-term, companies will be valued on their fundamentals.

In a free market such as the stock market, the current price is nothing more than the price at which a will seller is willing to sell at and a willing buyer is willing to buy at. If there are more willing sellers than buyers, the price will decline until the number of buyers and sellers are in equilibrium. We see people and institutions selling for a lot of reasons: Pay off debt, worried the company may flounder as the economy weakens, worried the company may have difficulty renewing debt at a reasonable rate, panic selling because the market is down, etc.

So, if you think the fundamentals of HOG are strong then it's current price should look pretty attractive to you. If you think the fundamentals are weak, then maybe it's still overpriced. So, to answer your question - the steadying of the stock price in recent days isn't significantly different than the market as a whole.

I don't know if this has anything to do with their stock prices, but I let my Hog membership expire due to getting laid off, and in an effort to keep more folks from doing the same Harley sent me a form to renew for $25 per year instead of the usual $45. They know people will put important things in front of toys, and it looks like they will do what it take to survive. Some things might not make sense or look logical to us, but experience has taught Harley how to survive.,,

I don't care, I have believed in the product all my life, the shares are affordable and I am glad to have a handfull of them. Anything I can do to show support to the MOCO in hard times. It ain't much.

The HD has always represented who I was in regards to this world, 3rd to God and 2nd to family(God/Family/HD).
