So I'm thinking about converting to an open belt primary......any thoughts or experiences you guys have had with open belts?

I had a friend with an Ironhorse running open primary and I always had to wait for him when riding the twisties. All of the open settups Ive seen are realy wide, killing your turning/leaning ability when taking left handers. They look cool but not practical for riding hard IMO.

I have a BDL open belt drive and I love it! Just have to keep adjusting the clutch in the beginning until everything seats. Just have to move the kickstand to keep from hitting the belt.

Yeah I'm not really to concerned with cornering and handling and all that....I'm like 2 inches off the ground, riding apehangers.....so handling is generally slow around corners anyhow.

Is there any practical application at all, or is it strictly a style issue? Because the way I see it, there are already enough ways to get hurt on a bike without adding the possibility of getting your pants, foot, etc. caught in a primary belt. So if it's all show and no go, I'd take a pass.
But like helmets, fingerless gloves and fringe, you gotta do what's right for you, not for everyone else. So good luck if you decide to do it.
