Are you at the gas station right now? If you are, let me know and I will tell you how to do it. Or you could ask the girl inside.

Since you have a New 2008 bike there is a hidden compartment under the gas tank that has the above required Official HD Gas Cap Opener (OHDGCO Part # 08-0ICU812) in it. You may have to get down on the ground to access it. Let us know if you find the OHDGCO get the cap off.

Your gas cap is loctited on from the factory....I use a bernzomatic torch to get mine off....but you have to be careful. I uploaded a picture from the 2008 service manual so yours should be the same.....

Forget getting it off. I want to know where you put it when it's off.

I would consider not removing it in the first place.
The tips of your gloves will rub the tank and leave scratch marks.
These will never completly buff out.
No, best to just leave well enough alone.

I know not to take the left gas gauge off becuase of the wiring but I can not seem to get the right side cap off. I am still waiting on my owner's manuel and I am too far from my dealership to get immeidate help. Can anyone tell me how to get the cap off or what is the correct way to do it?
