Mileage is too good for me. I would still suspect the bike is lean unless you live at a altitude a lot higher than sea level. At sea level I am getting under 40 mpg before mods in both bikes. After stage one my mileage went to 39 mpg on the 03 Heritage. After cams it went to 34 mpg. My carbed 98 evo gets 37 mpg. It is stock with fatter jetting. Check your plugs, they will tell. Antisieze your plugs while you have them out and only check them on a cold engine if possible.****** Lean is mean but rich last forever.******

To lean they will be "White", they should look like they are slightly "rusted". Plug color can be difficult without a chart. Some additives will turn the plugs a brownish color.
As long as the tip isn't melted you are probably ok.
OldAirboat: Man that is bad mileage, My 85 Evo gets 45mpg and my 02 TwinCam gets 50 mpg and that is around town. Both engines are Carbs.
